No Other GOds

Good morning and Welcome! If you have not already listened to this week’s sermon, Pastor John is starting a new series on the Ten Commandments. Today, we are delving into the commandment found in Exodus 20:3 which says “you shall have no other gods before me” (ESV). John will be walking us through what this entails and why it is so important. The fact that God has required these things is reason enough for us to worship no gods beside the one true God, but our God is so vast and wonderful that there are surly more reasons to worship God and God alone, and these are the things that John is zeroing in on today. As you worship this morning, I pray that you would see and know the God who is ever present and eternally worthy of our praise.

How Deep The Father’s Love for Us – Austin Stone Worship

“Do you not know? Do you not hear? Has it not been told you from the beginning? Have you not understood from the foundations of the earth? It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretch out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in; who brings princes to nothing, and makes the rulers of the earth as emptiness. Scarcely are the planted, scarcely sown, scarcely has their stem taken root in the earth, when he blows on them and they wither, and the tempest carries them off like stubble. ‘To whom then will you compare me, that I should be like them?’ says the Holy One. Lift up your eyes on high and see: who created these? He who brings out their host by number, calling them all by name; by the greatness of his might and because he is strong in power, no one is missing” (Isaiah 40:21-26, ESV).

Hallelujah Here Below – Elevation Worship

What response to such greatness do we have other than awe; other than lifting up our eyes and our voices in praise? In acknowledgement of God’s greatness and in the light of God’s presence we must sing hallelujah. There is no condition, no exception, no excuse that can overcome our need to praise God, and there are certainly no objects that we could idolize nor people we could treat as godlike that could deserve any of our praise, because it all belongs to God alone. Church, let us praise together our God, and let us worship so fully that there is no room for other ‘gods’ in our hearts.

Have it All – Bethel Music

“Praise the Lord! Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens! Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness! Praise him with trumpet sounds; praise him with lute and harp! Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe! Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals! Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!” (Psalm 150:1-6, ESV).
