Engaging God Through Meekness

Good morning and welcome!  Today, Pastor John is continuing in his series on the beatitudes. This week’s message is focusing on the third of these: “blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth” (Matthew 5:5, NRSV). As we worship together this morning, Pastor John is going to be breaking down some of the misconceptions about what it means to be meek, how these people image God, and what it means to inherit the earth. So, as we listen to the word today, I pray that each of us will be revealed something new about God’s character and that we would feel the presence of God and desire to become more like Christ.

Come Alive – Hillsong Worship

New Wine – Hillsong Worship

“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light” (Matthew 11:18-30, NRSV).

More Like Love – Ben Rector

Build My Life – Pat Barrett

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God—what is good and acceptable and perfect. For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members one of another. We have gifts that differ according to the grace given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith; ministry, in ministering; the teacher, in teaching; the exhorter, in exhortation; the giver, in generosity; the leader, in diligence; the compassionate, in cheerfulness” (Romans 12:1-8, NRSV).
